Summer is a time for children to explore, learn, and grow beyond the traditional classroom setting. The JICS Summer Lab Camp, located at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study at the University of Toronto, offers a unique opportunity for all young learners aged 4 to 9, to immerse themselves in a world of discovery and creativity, at a world renown Laboratory School.
Why Choose JICS Summer Lab Camp?
At JICS, we believe in fostering an environment where children can ask questions, explore their interests, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Our camp programs are designed to be inquiry-based and experiential, aligning with our philosophy of nurturing curiosity and creativity. Situated in the heart of Toronto's Annex Neighbourhood, our camp provides a dynamic summer experience that integrates seamlessly with our world-class educational approach.
Diverse Program Offerings
JICS Summer Lab Camp is structured into three engaging program categories:
Natural Curiosity Labs – Children engage in outdoor and inquiry-based exploration, based on the renown Natural Curiosity program at the University of Toronto. With our curated courtyard as our home base, these sessions foster a personal connection to the land and encourage environmental stewardship through Indigenous perspectives.
Creative Labs – These sessions focus on dynamic arts, integrated with the principals of science, technology, engineering and math, allowing campers to express themselves through innovative and artistic inquiry that moves beyond traditional arts and crafts.
Imagination Labs – A multi-interest program, our Imagination Labs encourage imaginative play and critical thinking through a variety of activities and challenges that stretch our imaginations to new limits!
Additionally, our Leadership Lab is designed for older campers to develop leadership skills through collaborative projects, team-building exercises and adapted sports.
Exemplary Staff
Our team comprises experienced JICS teachers, TDSB teachers, and teacher candidates from our very own MA in Child Study and Education, and from other programs around the city. Our staff are passionate about working with children and provide personalized attention to ensure each child’s learning and enjoyment are maximized.
Convenient Location and Facilities
The camp is hosted at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study, located at 45 Walmer Rd., Toronto, ON. Our facilities have been designed to provide a safe and stimulating environment where children can explore and learn.
